AIS, AIS-TRR, AND CAIS ANNOUNCE THE CREATION AND INTEGRATION OF AIS TRANSACTIONS ON REPLICATION RESEARCH (AIS-TRR) AS A NEW DEPARTMENT WITHIN COMMUNICATIONS OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR INFORMATION SYSTEMS (CAIS)

Replication is crucial in research for verifying results, improving reliability, and supporting generalizability. It also advances science by uncovering new evidence, deepening understanding, and allowing reassessment of existing theories.

The Association for Information Systems, an advocate for replication research is delighted to announce the creation and integration of AIS-TRR as a new department—Replication Research—within CAIS.

The new department will continue the mission of AIS-TRR: to publish high-quality replication studies that help the field reach scientific consensus. Replication submissions on all IS topics are welcome. Articles may either support the findings of the original article or report different results (e.g., non-significant findings). Both outcomes are valuable, either validating prior research or prompting new replications and follow-on studies that seek to understand the contexts in which a theory does and does not apply, thereby identifying boundary conditions.

Effective 1st September, 2025, all new submissions must be adhere to the CAIS Submission Requirements and be submitted via the CAIS ScholarOne submission portal. AIS-TRR will no longer accept new submissions. Manuscripts currently under review or recently accepted by AIS-TRR will be automatically migrated to the CAIS system. Papers published in volumes 1-10 will continue to reside on the AIS-TRR website (https://aisel.aisnet.org/trr/).

Prospective authors are encouraged to review Dennis and Valacich’s replication manifesto (https://aisel.aisnet.org/trr/vol1/iss1/1) and Dennis et al.’s editorial describing the replication project (https://misq.umn.edu/misq/downloads/download/editorial/706/) for additional information.

Queries related to the migration of author papers can be sent to Dr. David Cormier, Managing and Production Editor, CAIS, managingeditorcais@gmail.com.

We look forward to this new exciting department and promoting replication research as part of CAIS.
