Abstract

Generative AI (GenAI) has revolutionized various activities and operations in the healthcare industry. It has become imperative for hospitals to consider using GenAI due to its utility in healthcare.   Despite the growing importance of GenAI, research lacks studies on its adoption. Therefore, this work explores the adoption of GenAI in healthcare organizations. This study employs the Technology-Organization-Environment-Human framework and highlights the importance of the human factor in the adoption of GenAI technology in healthcare settings. This study surveys 468 healthcare managers and professionals of healthcare organizations and the proposed model was validated using PLS-SEM. Moreover, this work uses the ANN and NCA approaches to provide a deeper, more robust understanding of GenAI adoption in healthcare. This research identifies the determinants of potential use of GenAI, including human factors.  It advances the academic literature on advanced technology adoption. It offers valuable insights for senior healthcare leaders, professionals, and policymakers.
