Welcome to WI 2022, the 17th International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik.
The International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik is the most important meeting place for Wirtschaftsinformatik research in the German-speaking world and a forum for exchange with entrepreneurs. The Friedrich-Alexander-University invites you to the 17th International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik (WI22) in Nuremberg.
For WI22, we have chosen the guiding theme WI for Grand Challenges – Grand Challenges for WI. Our colleague Peter Mertens, who was appointed in 1970 to the first chair of Wirtschaftsinformatik in Germany at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg, emphasized that WI, as a mature discipline, has to identify and define ‘Grand-Challenges’ in the sense of particularly demanding challenges. Such problems, whose solution requires the united forces of the WI, should be presented as a broad consensus of the professional community and be the result of discourse.
With the 17th International Conference on Wirtschaftsinformatik we offer a platform to discuss ‘Grand Challenges’ and ‘Wirtschaftsinformatik’ from two different perspectives: WI for Grand Challenges and Grand Challenges for WI.
