Abstract
Digital technologies continue to drive unprecedented transformations across contemporary business organizations, offering vast opportunities for innovation and value creation. Information systems researchers have explored various facets of digital transformation, producing a rich and diverse body of knowledge. Building upon this foundation, the present study seeks to advance theoretical and practical understanding of the digital transformation process by systematically synthesizing and analyzing 1,120 peer-reviewed publications published between 2013 and 2025. The study develops a comprehensive process model of digital transformation, which is grounded in the salient theoretical perspectives identified in prior research, and recognizes the importance of both digital and non-digital factors. The study offers an integrative framework that consolidates existing insights and provides a structured foundation for future research on digital transformation.
