Replication of Technostress: Technological Antecedents and Implications in the Post-Pandemic Context
Abstract
This study is a conceptual replication of the work of Ayyagari et al. (2011), who developed a model of technostress using the person-environment fit model as a theoretical lens. We translated the survey items to Portuguese (Brazil), obtained data from 150 Brazilian workers in the post-pandemic scenario, followed the same procedures to assess the original model, and compared our results with the original study. The replication study results showed that ten of the original study's sixteen proposed hypotheses were consistent. The findings revealed that work overload and role ambiguity are still the two most significant stressors, and intrusive technology characteristics remain the dominant predictors of stressors, just like in the original study.
