Abstract

This study conceptually replicated Zhang et al.'s (2021) research on emotional attachment to mobile health service and its impact on usage. Framed within the affect transfer model, this study investigated the role of mobile health devices and feedback satisfaction, perceived value, and individuals’ health rationality in forming emotional attachment and mobile health service use. We adopted the model, extended the scope of the mobile health service IT artifact, and modified instruments based on the original study. We also expanded the dimension of mobile health service use, which was not captured in the original study. Nine out of ten hypotheses in our study were consistent with the original study results. The only inconsistent one was the moderation effect of health rationality between feedback satisfaction and perceived value. The discrepancy between the two studies was discussed, and additional data and statistical tests were suggested to validate our results.
