Abstract

This research investigates how the response quality and anthropomorphism of AI-powered tutors shape students’ learning experiences and outcomes. Guided by the Stimulus-Organism-Response framework, the study focuses on perceived usefulness, flow, psychological empowerment, and parasocial connection as core aspects of student engagement. Two pilot studies were conducted to test the research design and measurement instruments. Building on these insights, the next phase will compare high- and low-anthropomorphism versions of an AI tutor. This work contributes theoretically by clarifying the roles of response quality and anthropomorphism in AI-mediated learning, and practically by offering guidance for designing effective educational and organizational AI systems.
