Abstract
Drawing on the dynamic capabilities view (DCV), we propose a big data analytics dynamic capabilities (BDADC) model. This study extends the research streams on the role of big data analytics capabilities (BDAC) by conceptualizing a research model that shows the proposed relationship between the dynamic capabilities of BDA and firm performance. The model explains the role played by BDADC to sustain the competitive advantage of the firm under turbulent environments. The study proposes a moderating effect of turbulent environments on the relationship between BDADC and organizational agility in addition to a mediating effect of organizational agility between BDADC and firm performance. For academics, we extend BDA literature in the context of environmental turbulence and the role played by both sensing and responding capabilities as features of the dynamic capabilities of big data analytics. The implications for managers would be achieving sustained competitive advantage by putting emphasis on sensing and responding capabilities.
