Abstract

While large numbers of SME’s have started to explore the new business opportunities provided by the rapid take up of E-commerce on the Internet, a lack of security may endanger the success of their new venture, or even worse, may put their existing business in danger. This case study explores how managerial perceptions in SME’s influence the recognition of the security problem or need, and how the resulting low perception of security risk prevents a proper decision making process in the security planning of their E-commerce venture.
