Abstract

This article aims to propose improving the inspection scheduling process for dangerous cargo trucks at IPEM/MT with the Business Process Management approach. The initial investigation of the IPEM/MT context, the modeling of the current process (AS IS), the analysis of related problems using the 5W2H and Ishikawa diagram techniques and the redesign of the proposed process (To Be) were carried out. The main problems identified included appointments made in notebooks, truck drivers not showing up for inspection and lack of prior notice in case of cancellation of appointments. The proposed solution to the identified problems is the development of a system that will automate the scheduling process by persisting the data. Indicators were suggested to monitor To Be and enable continuous improvement. The results are useful for IPEMs in other states that aim to improve processes similar to that addressed in this research.
