Abstract

This paper presents the design, implementation and validation of the RACI matrix as an artefact supporting the management of responsibilities in a matrix structure in an international delivery organization. The study was conducted according to the Design Science Research (DSR) approach, which aims to create useful and scientifically grounded solutions. The RACI matrix was implemented in three project portfolios in 2023 and validated and iteratively refined in 2024. The study contributes to both the theory and practice of project management by providing a validated artefact that can be applied to complex organisational structures.
