Abstract
Practical command-line skills are essential in computing education, yet the ability to operate in AI-restricted, terminal-based environments remains underdeveloped by traditional teaching methods. This paper presents CLI2me, a command-line, text-based, and distraction-free educational system designed to promote documentation-driven, AI-assisted learning through structured, hands-on exercises in an isolated environment. Trainees solve tasks by consulting on-host manual pages within a personal virtual machine, and submit answers for automated evaluation inside a namespace-based sandbox. An AI feedback mechanism provides contextual explanations upon task completion, without interrupting the learning flow or requiring the trainee to leave the system. The system was deployed in a controlled academic environment, giving trainees full administrative access to their virtual machines, while the CLI2me session enforces a controlled, restricted and distraction-free environment.
