Abstract
Rapid advances in digital technologies have fundamentally altered the ways in which many businesses operate, and digital tools are increasingly being used to perform HR functions, in particular to support the onboarding of new employees and to enhance employee engagement and retention. However, relatively little is known about the impact of this type of digitalization on the organizations involved and on their employees and the benefits and potential drawbacks associated with it. This research in progress responds to calls for more studies on the digitalization of onboarding processes by examining the adoption of a digital onboarding process in a Saudi telecoms company, using a qualitative methodology and semi-structured interviews to gather data from new employees and HR professionals. In particular, it aims to evaluate the impact of digitalization on the onboarding processes for new employees, particularly on the recruitment of new generations of digital natives.
