Abstract

This conceptual submission aims to introduce the Digital India Programme (DIP) and present an argument for initiating research to explore whether the provision of ICTs to the wider population via the DIP would help to reduce issues such as the digital divide, facilitate digital inclusion and lead to betterment of citizens’ quality of life. The main contribution of this short submission is to make researchers aware of the potential of the DIP as well as advocate how further research into the Programme can help in extending knowledge on the digital divide and social inclusion/exclusion within a multifaceted society.
