Abstract
The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies has accelerated the deployment of surveillance systems across public and private domains, including facial recognition, biometric monitoring, and real-time behavioral tracking. As organizations gain increasing abilities to process personal, physiological, and behavioral data, important concerns emerge regarding privacy, transparency, accountability, and governance. While AI-enabled surveillance technologies may provide benefits related to security and operational efficiency, they also create significant ethical and societal risks. Current legal and regulatory frameworks often struggle to keep pace with the rapid expansion of these technologies across sectors such as workplaces, healthcare, education, and digital platforms. This talk explores the public policy implications of emerging AI surveillance technologies and discusses governance approaches needed to support responsible and trustworthy innovation.
