Abstract
Information systems scholarship often yields insights that can help build a more equitable, just society. However, our scholarship remains largely unknown and inaccessible to the general public. The lack of public engagement not only impedes the impact of our scholarship, but also reduces public understanding of and support for our work. The proposed panel will discuss effective ways to engage in public scholarship through a variety of means, including consulting, leadership in practitioner groups, collaboration with advocacy groups, and digital media. Audience members will gain a better appreciation for the value of public scholarship and will also learn the practical strategies for engaging with the public.
