Abstract

Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) has found diverse applications within the healthcare sector, including facilitating clinical documentation, obtaining insurance pre-authorization, as well as answering questions for patients about their specific conditions and concerns. These implementations offer transformative healthcare with several obvious benefits. However, Gen AI must be applied with precautions because the models used in Gen AI differ from AI-based solutions that are already regulated. In this study, we aim to discuss how Gen AI can be utilized to provide context or education for health literacy, while also addressing potential concerns and issues associated with its use in healthcare. We aspire to raise public awareness of and promote the constructive utilization of Gen AI to enhance health literacy, thereby fostering improved health decision-making for both patients and healthcare providers.
