Abstract
This paper presents the extent of current research on the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in reducing inequalities. The journals indexed in the Scopus database for the period 2000 – 2022 are considered. The survey is based on four major themes of inequality namely social, economic, political, and environmental. Publications trends are presented as the number of studies and area or subject of study for the specified period. The survey indicates social inequality is studied widely, followed by economic inequality. The survey identifies the scope for future research on ICT’s role in reducing political and environmental inequality. It is observed that most of the research is in social work and computer science. The survey identifies the scope for future research in the area of Information systems (IS) and Management of Technology (MOT). The paper also notes the limitations of the study and proposes future iterations of work.
