Abstract
While emergency medical services are required to make correct decisions under intense time pressure, they have experienced an increasing cost pressure and staff shortages in recent years, especially during the COVID pandemic. To support and improve the decision-making process of emergency services and dispatchers, the research project SPELL aims at offering AI-based services and data integration on a platform that connects various stakeholders along the rescue chain. We perform a design science research study to derive requirements for designing a business model of the AI-based emergency services platform. Besides a structured literature review, semi-structured interviews are conducted to gain practical insight before defining a business model canvas. We focus on the provider side and provide design suggestions for future research regarding potential customers. In addition, multiple use cases of the platform are considered.
