Abstract
The superannuation industry, which employs over 100,000 people and manages assets of over $3.3 trillion, is undergoing a digital revolution. This study explores how enterprise architecture (EA) can support digital transformation (DT) in the superannuation digital revolution. A literature review evaluating the current body of knowledge identifies several EA functions that support DT and reveals there has been minimal research explicitly conducted on Australian superannuation. A case study at an Australian superannuation fund comprising interviews, questionnaires, document analysis, and observations supports a substantial portion of the literature while also identifying areas of difference in the context of superannuation. The study revealed EA might be underutilised as a strategic tool in the context of superannuation. The findings of this study contribute to research and practice. They help inform superannuation fund leadership of the critical role EA can play in supporting the transformation of their industry.
