Abstract
Digitalization is an omnipresent megatrend and affects every aspect of life, with football being no exception. However, the enormous potential of Digital Technologies (DT) in football is neither explored nor exploited yet. Likewise, research so far has not sufficiently investigated which and how DTs appear on and off the field. By conducting a structured literature review, we close this gap and provide a structuring framework for the research community and practitioners alike. Our analysis illustrates that DTs allocate into two clusters: on-field and off-field applications. Moreover, we argue that DTs categorized as 'analytical insight generation' promise to be the most crucial DT for football's stakeholders as they connect on-field and offfield applications.
