Abstract
The rapid development and penetration of mobile applications have led to various healthcare service innovations. Especially in the regions of emerging economies, mHealth plays a critical role in reconfiguring limited medical resources, improving healthcare service delivery process, and improving patients’ service experiences. However, we have little knowledge about how mHealth apps enable the patient-oriented healthcare service innovation. Based on the Service-Dominant (S-D) logic, this research reveals how mHealth applications enabled and the corresponding institutional work assured the resources integration for achieving value co-creation between hospitals and patients. An in-depth case study was conducted. Research findings enrich the S-D logic and the mHealth research. Hospital administrators will also gain deep insights on managing mobile apps enabled service innovations.
