Abstract

This study developed a theoretical model to examine the impact of senior leadership behaviors on IS-Business strategic alignment and identified development culture as a significant moderator in the research model. A survey was conducted in China, and totally 132 valid data was collected from IS executives and their direct subordinates. Structural Equation Modelling analysis results suggest that IS executives’ idealized influence and inspirational motivation leadership behaviors are positively associated with IS-Business strategic alignment, and development culture can further strengthen the impact of the two leadership behaviors on strategic alignment. This study contributes to the extant literatures in IS leadership and provides guidelines to the IS executives to exhibit strategic leadership behaviors so as to achieve the alignment between IS and business strategies.
