Abstract
Enterprise research planning (ERP) systems are becoming mature technologies to support inter- and intra-company business processes in many organizations. However, ERP systems are complex and expensive. The decision to install an ERP system necessitates a choice of mechanisms to determine whether an ERP is needed, and once implemented, whether it is successful. Key-user satisfaction is one evaluation mechanism for determining system success. This study investigates measuring ERP key-user satisfaction in the specific context of implementing a package-based ERP system from external contractor. Initial analyses of ERP system characteristics and the outsourcing environment are reported, and some previously validated instruments are selected for examination using the incremental-interview process and iterative development methods. A questionnaire is then developed and tested to prove reliability and validity.
