Abstract

Globally, small firms are important drivers of economic growth and prosperity. We describe how two small firms with very different goals use everyday digital technologies to create business opportunities and innovate. These two firms strategically use the technologies very differently in their business processes, external markets, and industries. We identify a variety of ways to effectively use these inexpensive technologies to innovate and provide guidelines for small firms on using the technologies to drive innovation.
