Abstract
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are essential tools for processing and analyzing geospatial data. However, challenges remain in effectively organizing, integrating, and extracting meaningful information and knowledge from this data. To address this, a systematic literature review was conducted to assess the current state of research and identify gaps related to the representation of geolocation data in ontologies and the role of Knowledge Graphs (KG) in organizing and retrieving this information. The review highlighted uses and benefits of semantic approaches, including enhanced interoperability, reasoning capabilities, and knowledge generation, while also identifying areas where further research is needed.
