Abstract

The primary objective of the study was to analyse the connections between projects carried out under the three European Union framework programmes and concepts in the field of artificial intelligence. To address this problem, a method for identifying artificial intelligence concepts in project descriptions was developed. This method considers all concepts from the “Computer Science Ontology” that are related to artificial intelligence. The correspondence between AI concepts and project descriptions was determined using semantic similarity measures. The analysis covered all projects implemented between 2007 and 2025 as parts of FP7, Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe frameworks (more than 80,000 projects). All analyses were conducted by the authors using Python programmes developed specifically for this study.
