Healthcare and wellbeing are being reshaped by digital technologies and data-intensive practices. Beyond clinical care, information systems (IS) are central for healthcare administration and are becoming increasingly central to supporting healthy lifestyles and illness prevention, social connectedness, and overall wellbeing. Across scales, from large health systems to wellbeing apps and wearable devices, IS is transforming healthcare and wellbeing. Digital health and wellbeing applications including health record systems, telehealth, remote monitoring, mobile platforms, VR/AR, and robotics continue to transform care delivery, patient and user experiences and expectations, and the relationship between people and technologies. These developments call for new empirical insights, theoretical advances, and critical reflection on how IS can support or complicate efforts toward healthier and more fulfilling lives.
