Abstract

This study investigates how organizations can achieve responsible governance of generative AI (GenAI) for knowledge management. Drawing on a case study of a leading cybersecurity vendor, we propose a two-phase governance framework - responsible externalization and responsible internalization. This framework addresses challenges of GenAI-enabled knowledge creation, ensuring tacit knowledge is reliably standardized and explicit knowledge responsibly recontextualized. Our findings show how organizations can govern AI-generated knowledge into reliable, accountable forms that enhance knowledge creation and support responsible GenAI use.
