Abstract

Tokenized content platforms reward user-generated content through transparent on-chain incentives, making them particularly vulnerable to the rise of Generative AI (GenAI). Leveraging signaling and motivation theories, we study how GenAI reshapes reward allocation and contribution on HIVE Blog. An analysis around ChatGPT’s launch shows that rewards for authentic content increased by 2.5%, which significantly boosted authenticity-weighted contributions. These findings reveal an “authenticity premium” in token economies, where technological disruption heightens the value of human effort. The study advances theory on digital authenticity and offers guidance for platform governance in AI-saturated environments.
