Abstract

Blockchain technology has gained popularity in various industries due to its ability to enhance transparency and security. However, its potential for the recruitment industry remains largely unexplored despite the increasing number of fake diplomas and other fraudulent practices. These practices cause significant financial and reputational losses, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises. This study draws on the diffusion of innovation theory to better understand the acceptance of blockchain technology in the recruitment process. We interviewed 25 recruiters and blockchain consultants to identify the perceived attributes of the technology, including relative advantage, compatibility, trialability, observability, and complexity. Through our analysis, we identified sub-attributes related to each of the five attributes that emerged from our data. We discuss how these factors positively or negatively impact the adoption of blockchain technology in the recruitment process. By understanding these factors, organizations can develop more effective recruitment processes and mitigate risks while hiring.
