Abstract

In view of the rising awareness of environmental sustainability and the climate targets defined by the EU, companies are encouraged to critically examine their business processes and take measures towards a more environmentally conscious way of doing business. Quality management plays a decisive role thereby in analyzing and improving business processes in relation to environmental goals. This study focuses on the “Green (Lean) Six Sigma” (GLSS) approach, which is a further development of the traditional Six Sigma quality management method and prioritizes environmental considerations. In the absence of standards for GLSS, this literature review aims to create a better understanding of the method elements (components) that can be used by method engineers to systematically create enterprise-adapted GLSS methods. It turns out that a wide range of quality techniques are available, but there is a lack of role concepts and skill profiles for GLSS.
