Abstract
The value of personal task management (PTM) in the contemporary work environment, in an age of information overload and constant connectivity, cannot be overstated. The current discourse on task management often neglects the cognitive and psychological aspects crucial to knowledge workers. Prior research has mostly focused on tools, methodologies, multitasking, interruptions, and similar narrow topics. For PTM our work constitutes the first attempt at developing a comprehensive and holistic theoretical framework, including cognitive, psychological, and technological dimensions. While our theoretical constructs remain high level, we believe our results are a step towards a theory of PTM, provide implications for practice and open several avenues of further research.
