Abstract
With data being the new oil, leveraging analytical information systems has become critical for any organization. However, in order to successfully create value from analytical information systems, it is necessary to systematically support the entire lifecycle, from discovery, through development to operations in an integrated way. A broad spectrum of modern information systems engineering methods and techniques has been suggested to support the entire information system lifecycle. However, existing methods are neither integrated along the entire lifecycle, nor contextualized for the situational context of analytical information systems engineering. In order to close this gap, we present in this researchin-progress paper our ongoing research effort to design an analytical information system engineering method that supports the entire lifecycle. Following the design science research paradigm, we intend to contribute design knowledge for information systems engineering methods with a specific focus on the important class of analytical information systems. By instantiating our scientifically grounded method, we will support practitioners in more successfully executing analytical information systems initiatives.
