Abstract
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems have been implemented in the majority of large companies in Europe and the US over the last five years [1]. This paper seeks to address three issues arising from this deployment. Firstly, to consider ERP systems in relation to previous approaches to deploying information systems in organisations. Secondly, to indicate how the mediation by consultants is of importance in the deployment of ERP systems. Thirdly, based on our analysis, to seek to predict future trends and issues in the use of information and communication technologies by organisations.
