Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought significant changes to education in Portugal, including the adoption of Learning Management Systems to enable emergency remote teaching. This study analyses the perceptions of informal leaders, individuals experienced in the use of these tools, who supported the implementation and transition to distance learning. The research used a case study with semi-structured interviews to assess the role of these leaders and the continuity of the tools’ usage after the return to face-to-face teaching. The results highlight the need for continuous teacher training and show that many teachers abandoned digital tools after the pandemic. However, some teachers continued to use them, recognising their value in enriching teaching practices. This research aims to contribute to the reflection on the integration of educational tools in teaching and the need to innovate pedagogy.
