Description
A review of pertinent literature on fake news indicates that social aspects of fake news have not been examined sufficiently. In the current article, we apply social influence theory (SIT) to understand how the social influence process affects the fake news participation behavior. We offer propositions of fake news participation based on three representative constructs of social influence theory: subjective norms, social identity and group norms.
