Description

The issue of food waste and the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) have received significant attention in recent years. However, there is a limited understanding of what drives customers to purchase products through the surplus food app. This paper develops a surplus food app matching retailers, food services, individuals, and households. By incorporating the Stimulus-Organism-Response theory (S-O-R), we propose a model to understand individuals’ intentions to use the surplus food app. We argue that environmental stimuli are related to customers’ attitudinal responses which, in turn, affect their intentions to use the surplus food app. Empirical data will be collected to examine hypothesized relationships among the variables. To this end, the effects of related antecedents on intentions to use the surplus food app are taken into account and explored more in-depth.

Understanding the Usage of Surplus Food App: Based on the SOR Model
