Description
This study analyses the effects of social media on innovation performance. The objective is twofold: 1) to test the effect of social media use on innovation performance in SMEs; and 2) to investigate the role of analytics capability in the relationship between social media use and innovation performance. To reach these objectives an online survey was conducted. A total of 110 senior managers from manufacturing SMEs participated. The results reveal that social media use has a positive effect on innovation performance, and that analytics capability plays a mediation role between social media and innovation performance. This study extends the research on social media and the knowledge on the resource-based view, describing the achievement of competitive advantages through analytics capability development.
