Besides the importance of digital transformation, the new normal is an urgent topic both in theory and practice since the pandemic led firms to rapid changes. It has recently emerged, that new successful and effective IS leadership during the crisis and in the new normal is needed since new structures and technologies as well as social norms and group processes occurred which urgently have to be permanently normalized. Previous research showed different understandings of the role of IS leadership in the digital era and there are no findings about the new normal. This paper aims to address this research gap by conducting a systematic literature review of work published since 2020. Preliminary results show first attributes about the different dimensions of IS leadership as well as opportunities and challenges. These findings lead to an advanced understanding of this relevant topic and a research agenda for the new normal.
