Abstract
This talk will explore the experiences and challenges of using GenAI in grading. The GenAI tool is Ednius and the context is grading 1,500 assignments for MIT 5602, the Management of Information Technology course, in the MBA program. The teaching team worked with Ednius consultants to design the rubrics for grading the assignments during the fall, 2025 term. Ednius autonomously grades the assignments, generates detailed feedback to explain the reasons for the assessments, and publishes the results of the assessments in the Canvas gradebook. Based upon the first pass at using Ednius, several concerns emerged as a result of the grading. For example, Ednius did not perceive nuances in making the assessments. In most cases, the faculty had to review the assessments made by Ednius and had to re-assess the answers of the students based on sensitivity to their judgment.
