Abstract
Information Systems research on artificial intelligence rightly addresses the dependent variable of value, but our conceptualizations of value are often too shallow. This has caused an obsession with technology’s potential to replace human effort, and an unhealthy focus on dependent variables that are easy to measure, but do not represent meaningful value.
