Abstract

The rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI) has intensified attention on how organizational leaders frame technological decision-making. While Information Systems (IS) research emphasizes leadership and executive sponsorship in digital transformation, little is known about how leaders construct narratives of AI adoption. This research-in-progress study examines leadership discourse through computational text analysis of social media transcripts from twelve prominent leaders. We apply sentiment analysis and topic modeling to identify how leaders discursively frame generative AI for adoption in organizations. Preliminary findings reveal distinct orientations: some leaders emphasize scalability, infrastructure, and enterprise adoption, whereas others highlight ethics, responsibility, and human-centered outcomes. These contrasting frames suggest that leadership discourse not only describes AI but actively shapes decision logics that guide organizational and societal responses. The study contributes to IS scholarship by linking leadership discourse, digital transformation, and decision-making around AI, and invites peer feedback for refinement.
