Abstract

In this paper, we discuss the architectural project and construction of a framework called Outer-Tuning, which supports (semi) automatic tuning of database systems through a specific ontology. The architectural aspects componentbased, interface design, and especially the approach taken to include both a domain ontology and an ontology tasks in an integrative information system. We also discuss aspects of machine inference rules and issues related to the use of logical languages. Finally, some experimental results allow an assessment of the expected framework contributions.
