Description
Numerous organizations are integrating GenAI into their work processes to provide employees with a software tool that enhances efficiency and supports them in completing work tasks on an individual level. Our study aimed to measure the effect of GenAI use on team effectiveness as well as the preparedness and contribution of individual team members in terms of teamwork sessions and the overall team goal. While existing research has focused on GenAI adoption on an individual level, this study examines GenAI use at a team level. Therefore, we conducted a quantitative study (N=201) with employees working in the information technology sector, using GenAI in their daily work processes. Our findings reveal a significant positive effect of GenAI use on the preparedness and contribution of each team member to overall teamwork. In addition, we uncover a significant positive effect of GenAI use on 14 out of 15 attributes of team effectiveness.
