Description

Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO), a new form of organization is evolving with the development of blockchain technology. Unlike traditional organizations, DAO utilizes blockchain and smart contracts to achieve a fully decentralized organizational structure, and governance decisions are completed by voting on proposals. Recently, the delegation mechanism has emerged in DAOs, to increase the community decision-making efficiency, and also to improve the convenience for users to exercise their rights. This work summarizes the current research status by reviewing the literature related to DAO and delegation mechanisms, and proposes the hypotheses on users' participation in DAO governance. Based on liquid democracy theory, this paper explores the influence of DAO power structure and delegation behavior on users’ participation in community governance. This empirical study intends to enrich understandings of DAO governance, and provides insights for the mechanism design and management in online communities.
