This study seeks to enhance our comprehension of the technology needs, preferences, and usage patterns of the elderly to guide the development of innovations for them. The findings from this need assessment indicate widespread adoption of basic technologies, with newer devices gradually gaining acceptance. Interestingly, the elderly with higher education levels may serve as early adopters. Nevertheless, traditional barriers such as complexity and familiarity with technology continue to impede widespread adoption. The study suggests that the elderly utilize technology to achieve goals and enhance control, autonomy, pleasure, and self-awareness. Future research should delve into the diverse technology needs, preferences, and usage patterns across different populations, guiding the customization of services and products for elderly consumers.
