Abstract

Social network sites are one of the most advanced technologies in the 21 st century. These social media can store user-generated content for persistence, several drawbacks cannot be ignored. In order to consider potential risks of persistent social information, a time-limited feature and function has been added to social media in which users share ephemeral content. Ephemeral social media have changed the ways how users consume temporary content. However, scant attention is paid to this topic. To fill this gap, this paper explores factors influencing the browsing intention on ephemeral social media based on the perspective of future-oriented emotions. The study proposes that two anticipatory emotions, curiosity and anxiety, influence browsing intention towards ephemeral content.
