Abstract
Due to the rapid growth of technology, mobile devices can be used not only for voice transmission, but also as a medium to transmit data which add a new dimension to the Internet by being 'anytime-anywhere-anyplace'. The mobile channel, one could argue, is precisely what financial institutions have been waiting for all along. Financial institutions, however, are not without challenges. Focusing on the mobile channel, this paper examines the opportunities and challenges for the financial institutions. As such, it examines the key drivers for the use of the wireless channel to access financial services from both users and financial institutions perspectives. In addition, it discusses the different mobile financial services.
