Abstract
While there have been about a few dozen or so studies of Enterprise System (ES) implementation, they have been centered on critical success factors or stand-alone implementations without taking into consideration that ES implementation forms only part of e-business' overall enterprise systems implementation. What's more, most of the studies have narrow and diverse opinions on the role of ES in e-business functions. Through an in-depth case study of TechCo, qualitative data on the ES implementation has been gathered, enabling us to develop a model of ES transformation process as it unfolds. The model will also be instrumental in providing a means to monitor the changing roles of ES within the context of ebusiness strategies. This study represents a contribution to ES research in that it articulates a transformation life cycle model that compliments existing empirical-based studies by showing how ES could act as an integrator as well as facilitator of other enterprise systems initiatives.
